An extensive research and experimentation has shown that sugar is the most common reason for developing cavities. The quantity of sugar should be less than ten percent of your total calorie intake. Once there is less sugar consumption, the teeth have a chance to remineralize and avoid cavities. 

  • Oil Pulling:

Oil pulling is a method or practice in which a person swishes an oil around his or her mouth for around twenty minutes and then spits it out. This practice claims to reduce bacteria in your mouth resulting in less chances of cavities. You can use Sesame oil and coconut oil for this purpose. But the most effective results are by using sesame oil. 

  • Licorice Root:

Some studies have shown chewing on the root of a Chinese plant as the licorice plant. It can reduce the bacterial production and enzymes that cause cavities. Some also have a lollipop with this root and studies show that there are less chances of cavities. 

Hence, you can get your cavity treated by a doctor or at home. But at all chances it should be avoided. Proper and regular teeth cleaning practices should be followed religiously to avoid cavities.
